About

Obsidian Flow is a yoga studio in Greater Heights, Houston, with a long class list: Yin, restorative, meditation and sound bath, beginner flow, sculpt and hot flow classes. Reviewers call the space beautiful, clean and modern, with towels and mats available, a shake bar, a luxury shower and plunge pools that give a spa-like finish. Instructors are described as caring about form, giving real adjustments and modifications, and Naomi's restorative class is praised for her soothing voice. A founding member reports reaching 150 classes. Criticism is limited: one reviewer found the hot power flow class unheated and mostly stretching, and another found the studio closed for a ClassPass 5am class.

I was really let down by this business. I signed up for a 5am class about 2 weeks ago on ClassPass. When I showed up, the location was closed. All the lights were off and there were no cars. I walked up to the building to double-check. Funnily enough, the doors were unlocked, but no one was there. However, my credits were not refunded on ClassPass as they still had the status of the class up as if it were occurring. I went back home and reached out through the Instagram page. They took a couple days to respond, but I was just happy that they had responded at all. They explained what had happened and told me they would assign some credits for me to try a class. I got back to them 4 days later saying this would be fine, I’m not always active on Instagram so it took me 4 days to get back to them. However, they left me on read after and have stopped reaching out. It’s been a full week. I’m pretty disappointed. ClassPass can’t refund me my credits either. I’m accepting my loss of credits, just wish the business had gone about it in a better way. I’m not really interested in this spot anymore after this, pretty bummed.

The studio is cute and the instructor was super sweet, but the class description was wildly inaccurate. I was really excited to find a potential new studio for Hot Power vinyasa/flow and I signed up for the 'Hot Power Flow IGNITE' class. The description is "a high-intensity flow in the heat that builds stamina, muscular strength, and mental focus through powerful sequences" but the class ended up being an hour of happy baby variations, a few other stretches, and headstand practice. The only time my HR went above resting was during the 5-10min of core work. The class also was not heated, which another girl asked about and confirmed they just don't turn the AC on. It was 83° outside and the studio was cooler than that. If you're looking for actual Hot Power Flow go to Ritual One.

Naomi is an excellent teacher. I have been taking the Restorative Yoga class with her. Her voice is truly soothing and peaceful and she exemplifies grace. I appreciate that she offers options for positions in the event a participant needs modifications due to personal limitations. Her comfort with and commitment to creating a safe flexible environment for all is very reassuring and keeps me coming back. In addition, the facility is exceptionally clean.
