About

Method Pilates is a reformer Pilates studio in Fourth Ward, Houston, with sister studios in Montrose and River Oaks. Reviewers describe small classes on a handful of reformers, an industrial interior and a mix of formats, from Stretch and Restore to lower-body and core classes using weights and a ring. Kacie, Beja and Ernesto are each praised by more than one reviewer, for clear cues, intensity and energy. Members also mention pregnancy-friendly classes and low-impact options for arthritis, and say the equipment is well maintained. Several first-timers felt welcomed, but others describe a cold reception and hands-off instruction from some instructors, and loud music that makes it hard to hear them.

Thought I’d be the only one who found the instructors rude but these reviews show otherwise! I was 5 mins late for class, instructor seemed mad, rolled her eyes. My fault, yes, but you can’t even say “Hi welcome!” She was completely hands off so if you’re new to Pilates be careful. No modifications so you’ll have to come up with your own in a split second. I saw others struggling and she asked what’s wrong with you all instead of taking the time to regroup. Cursing to her loud music that makes it hard to hear her. Maybe turn the music down so we can hear. A microphone doesn’t help when the music is louder. Also she does not get on the machine to demonstrate just waves arms up and down. It helps when you can actually see the proper movements, that’s why so many were confused. Two things I liked: The reformer machine was nice. Location is nice. I’m new to the area and I’ve tried a few clubs and so far FS8 Montrose has the best instructors. I’ll be trying a few more before I commit but I know I won’t go back to Method.

Such a great workout class with Ernesto! He was incredibly motivating and kept the energy high from start to finish. The music was amazing, the workout was challenging, and the overall vibe was so positive and fun. I left feeling accomplished and already looking forward to the next class!

The Stretch and Restore class was my first introduction to Method Pilates, and I loved it! It opened my eyes to new world of possibilities with the reformer, and Kacie, the instructor, was amazingly clear with instructions and designed a good class for stretching the full body. Being my first class, Kacie made sure to be inclusive and walked through all parts of the machine as it was designed slightly differently from other reformers. The studio was clean and equipment was well maintained. The industrial vibes of the interior design works well to invoke energy upon entering the room, while the smooth flowing music in the background calms the mind. It was overall a great class, and I would definitely return again. Pro tip: Parking can be a bit limited as the studio is in a prime location near downtown. I suggest arriving in the time gap between classes so that you can wait for a spot just as the last class prepares to leave.

Montrose Pilates studio where wall screens guide form and there are no mirrors, with three class models and patient instructors.
