About
Club Pilates Del Mar is a Pilates studio in Carmel Valley. Reviewers describe it as a good place for a first reformer class, where the instructor pushes the group while paying attention to each person's ability level. Visitors from other cities also use it with their Club Pilates membership and found the staff helpful and class times available in both the morning and afternoon. A non-native English speaker says the teachers work hard and that it is good value, though the instructors do not give detailed individual corrections. The recurring criticism concerns the business side: members mention a strict class cancellation fee and a membership system that was hard to cancel or freeze, even while praising the instructors.

Went to my first reformer class led by Kat and had a great experience. She pushed us while attending to everyone’s ability levels. Can’t wait to return

Be aware of a very strict class cancellation fee. I became ill right before a class, cancelled, but incurred an expensive cancellation fee. I had never missed a class in the past. I find this to be an inflexible policy, pardon the pun.

The instructors are great. The membership system is why this is not a 5 star - really brings it to one star, if not for the excellent instructors. Having to send an email to get a membership is ok but the freeze in the membership, and no response through email when trying to cancel a membership but still being charged $25 monthly does not work for me. There is no follow through and accountability on an email response. There is no next person to escalate to when still getting charged. It is so easy to join (give money) but so difficult to cancel (and not give money). Currently, I'm still waiting after months with each month thinking that this is the month I'm not going to be charged after sending the cancellation email. But so far, that has not happened. Going in person to try to cancel has to be timed so that I am not interrupting a class. With this review I am hoping to get the attn of someone to stop charging my acct. It is possible I might have cancelled and rejoined, giving them money again. But the lack of response to cancel makes me not want to have given them my credit card info in the first place.
