About

Restore Pilates Chicago is a small Ravenswood studio where reviewers say classes of up to four people feel like a personalised workout. It has Merrithew equipment that one reviewer calls always clean and well serviced, and a lot of variety in the reformer classes, so they are not repetitive. A common route in is a private lesson first, which gives beginners the confidence to join group sessions. Instructors, including Jeanne, Tassiana and Jo, are described as knowledgeable, warm and attentive, giving individual feedback and adjustments. Members report better posture, relief from back pain, recovery from an Achilles injury and postpartum strengthening, and people who felt too unfit for Pilates describe an empowering, nurturing environment. A 13-year Pilates practitioner calls it fantastic. Members travel from River North to attend.

Restore is an excellent studio, and I happily make the trip from River North for every class! After one year of practicing pilates, my posture has improved and my back pain has disappeared. I love the small studio setting and the individual attention from the instructors. The entire team is knowledgeable and attentive. I’m also happy to support a female-owned business!

I took my first ever pilates class at Restore with Jeanne, and I walked out raving about the experience! As a competitive dancer, I am always looking for beneficial forms of cross-training and ways to broaden my understanding of how my body moves. Jeanne was so warm and welcoming--which easily dissolved my "first-day jitters." Her knowledge on physiology really comes through in the way she explains movements, and all her cues are very clear. I loved the way she simultaneously motivated and provided instruction throughout the class; she pushes you but she also does so by clearly explains how to find extra strength, length, and technique in all the movements. Overall, I would highly recommend Restore Pilates to anyone looking to try pilates--as the environment and instructors are so welcoming. Additionally, even if you are a pilates pro, Jeanne is so knowledgeable and provides many different challenge levels, so I would also recommend the classes here for anyone looking to increase their skills.

This review is a long time coming. There are so many reasons this is by far the best Pilates studio in Chicago. And in no particular order here they are: 1. The Reformers/equipment. Beautiful Merrithew equipment that is always in excellent working condition clean and routinely serviced. 2. The space. Clean, well lit, inviting, aesthetically pleasing with just the right amount of decor and reading materials for guests to peruse. Bathroom is pristine and there is always fresh water available to clients/guests. 3. The sense of community. All are welcome and encouraged to be a part of the Restore community. Staff always knows you by name and ensure introductions are made to other clients taking class together or just making introductions that might suit each other (family/community/job opportunity connections). 4. The mission and core values of Restore are understood immediately upon entrance. There are signs about decorum that all members respectfully abide by. 5. The Staff. Wow. I’ve worked with most of the Instructors and they are INCREDIBLE. Their skill sets and intuition are impeccable. They have deep knowledge of the true tenets of Pilates; and as an instructor myself and a regular student I’m astounded out their abilities. No repeats and always customized classes and sessions that suit the needs of each client. This includes modifications that often arise in the moment - there is no mistaking their level of expertise. All of the instructors are my personal favorites however it is clear that the leadership and value driven work ethic comes the the top, the owner Jeanne. Thank you for sharing all of your gifts with the rest of us. I am a better student and instructor because of the Restore community.
