Avondale, Chicago
Forth Studio Chicago, in Avondale, offers yoga, strength training, Pilates, breathwork, meditation and sound baths in one space, and members say the variety makes it easy to match a class to their mood, from a strength workout to restorative yoga. Classes begin with a moment to settle in, and reviewers praise kind, knowledgeable and encouraging teachers. Several reviewers highlight inclusivity: practising without mirrors helped a larger-bodied member build confidence, and the lobby stocks items such as hair ties and earplugs. Classes are called approachable for all levels. Criticisms include a $150 monthly price some find too high, a cramped room, a strong essential oil smell, difficult parking and, from two members, responses to complaints about an instructor that they found dismissive.

The environment and welcoming and calm. I have loved all of the instructors I have experienced so far. The check in is easy, and my classmates have been respectful.
This studio was a great starting point for my fitness journey and helped me lose over 30 lbs, but my time here ended on a difficult note similar to the person who left a one star review... Instructors frequently encourage modifying exercises to "do your own thing." As an autistic person, I took this instruction literally, especially while modifying movements due to a month-long wrist injury (for which I was wearing braces). Because English is my second language and I am naturally shy, explaining my injury before every class became exhausting, which unfortunately led to misunderstandings and instructors feeling I was ignoring instructions. While I understand the instructors' concerns, I was heartbroken to receive a cold email from Alan rather than a constructive, in-person conversation—especially as a dedicated regular. I still recommend this studio to beginners, but I advise future members to consistently over-communicate any physical limitations or modifications. I hope management considers a warmer, more in-person approach to communication in the future...it was heartbreaking to a point that I don't want to do Yoga anywhere anymore...it took me a long time to write this but I needed to be honest. Eleanor, hope you’re doing great! Nothing personal but I hated the way things ended, even when no one (even you) didn't try to stop me from leaving with my heart in pieces. But lesson learned! Group class definitely not for me.
I started going to classes at Forth in January of 2026. It has quickly become one of my favorite places and I am there multiple times a week. They provide a variety of types of classes, strength training, yoga, Pilates, breath work, all with incredibly kind, skilled and talented teachers. The classes all start out with a moment for connection where you’re offered the opportunity to introduce yourself to your neighbor and it’s the most beautiful way to meet new people. There are no mirrors in the space so I feel fully present during each workout, not focused on how I look but rather how I feel during each class. The playlists are always the right vibe. I can’t say enough good things about this studio.
