I highly recommend Johnna Buchanan Pilates, a classic and welcoming Pilates studio. After two months of consistent practice with Johnna, my postpartum mind, body and posture has improved immensely. I look forward to every session with her and I love being part of her friendly community. Thank you, Johnna!

Joey Beso is an exceptional Pilates instructor whose expertise in anatomy and movement is clear in every session. She creates workouts that are simultaneously thorough and gentle, with meticulous attention to form and safety. Her observant nature and deep anatomical knowledge allow her to spot and correct subtle imbalances I never would have noticed. Each session is thoughtfully planned yet adaptable, with clear progression and purpose. She's incredibly organized, starting and ending on time, and her careful instruction has already led to measurable improvements in my strength and balance. Her ability to explain complex movements clearly while maintaining proper form makes every session both challenging and accessible. I started working with her in mid-October to build strength before surgery in late-December, and her systematic approach to building strength while ensuring safety has been exactly what I needed. Update (June 2026): I originally wrote this review about Joey Beso, who was an exceptional instructor. She has since moved on, which is the nature of this field. Personal training is a hard way to make a living, and most instructors teach across multiple studios and disciplines, such as Pilates, dance, and yoga, building a career out of genuine skill and passion. Turnover is the norm, not the exception. What speaks well of this studio is that the owner consistently attracts talented people, and is one herself. This past year I've worked with both Cecie Salazar and owner Johnna Buchanan, and the quality of instruction has remained high across the board. For anyone new to Pilates, like me: it's a method developed by German-born Joseph Pilates in the early 1900s, built around core strength, alignment, and breath. Most instructors teach from that classical foundation while bringing their own expertise to it, and that range of interpretation is part of what makes the practice so worthwhile. If you've been on the fence about whether this is the kind of studio where you'd feel at home: come find out. The instructors here have earned their expertise across disciplines and across studios, and they bring all of it into the room. Two years in, I'm still learning and still improving.

I’ve been seeing Johnna since I was pregnant, through postpartum, and beyond. My body, mind, and spirit have never felt stronger or more empowered. The classical training has done wonders physically, but it’s been just as much a gift for my mental health: it’s given me real confidence that I hadn’t known before. Johnna has built a space where a diverse group of people all feel welcome to show up exactly as they are. It’s more than a workout and truly feels like a community.
