It only took one D'Angelo tribute yoga class to hook me. From Day 1 this has been most welcome I've ever felt in a fitness studio. Flow in the City is a place where first timers and newcomers to Portland are greeted with hugs. Where people root and support one another. Where you can share what's going on in your life and where folks listen with compassion. Where you find yourself grabbing matcha or lunch with whoever came to class that day. Where you hear bass thumping and laughter pouring from the building before you even step inside. This studio is more than just fitness. What you'll find at Flow is a safe space that centers community, culture, connection, and care. I was not a regular yoga or Pilates person before taking classes and one of my goals was to gain strength and stability after an injury. The music – from Cleo Sol to Too $hort to Bad Bunny – helps me flow. The instructors' guidance helps build confidence. The community fosters inclusivity and joy. What started as a hope for better body alignment has grown into a deeper kind of alignment within myself. Even if you feel rusty or are doing something you've never done before, this is a place where instructors encourage you to try and just be. You can show up just as you are. If you're new to the studio, try the month-long trial and explore. I love that each month has a focus too (recent ones include hips and balance/stability). Every instructor is so gifted and offer practices with their own style, swag and fire playlists. Eternally grateful for Vanessa, Deja, Esperanza, Laura, Latesha, Melissa, and Tihanne. Flow in the City is built with intention and soul and has become one of my favorite sanctuaries in the city for peace and joy.

The R&B and Chill class is so great. I left feeling stretched and strong and peaceful; it’s the perfect combination of restorative and active flow. Looking forward to more classes :)

A yoga studio with diversity, no judgement, friendly for beginners as they offer variations for the poses and flow. I can go on my own pace and build up my skills listening to my body. Vanessa, Laura and Deja welcomed me into the community with such warmth that I just kept coming back almost everyday. I’m thankful for finding a yoga studio with a Latinx community and I instantly felt safe and home allowing me to have a new relationship with exercise and improving my mental health. Don’t hesitate to try this space. It’s really filled with kindness.
