As I entered the space I was met by the lovely Kat who cleansed by aura with sage, there is a relaxing glow from the soft lighting and candles. I was invited to find a comfortable space to set out my yoga mat, There was a lovely blanket, blocks and bluster cushion. Sue then explained the science behind Yin Yoga & the Sound Bath. We then began the Yin session, Sue demonstrated each pose and then gave adaptations for people, so everyone could create a pose they were happy & comfortable with, this made the class feel really inclusive, each pose was held for around 5 minutes, while Kat was drumming, I started to feel calm & relaxed. At the end of the Yin Sue invited us to get comfortable with are pillows, blankets, eye masks ect. She then took us through a meditation to ground us before the sound bath began. Feeling the highs and lows of the sounds, from gongs, I began to feel different sensations up and down my body. I felt an intense vibration in my chest and back when the gongs were hit which really took me by surprise, it was as if the music was travelling straight through me. I was fascinated by my body’s reactions throughout and began to surrender more to the process. Eventually I no longer felt stiff. I wasn’t thinking about anything I would eb and flow into a calm state, feeling the odd tingle down my spine when the rain maker in particular was used. I felt like I was having an out of body experience as lights danced in front of my eyes, and I felt very emotionally. I drifted off into a deep state of calmness which felt incredible, at one point, I'm sure I fell asleep. If you have not tried Yin or a Sound Bath, be open to the experience and give it ago, I have been to several of Sue & Kat’s sessions now and have had a different experience each time, that has left me with a new level of inner peace.
