The Contrology Studio is a lovely space in the Mission to practice Classical Pilates. Miquel, Miki, Bonnie and Josh are excellent instructors. I recommend trying out the new client special to get a feel for their different teaching styles. Everyone is friendly and welcoming. If you are driving to the Mission be sure to take extra time to find parking.
I have improved my posture and as a dancer immensely after working with Miquel. He is like an extremely precise sculptor with his corrections, to help you have an inner experience of your body where space, lightness and strength are naturally brought out without force. I am incredibly appreciative of this studio and Miquel.
Portia is a genius! It's been 10 years since I last did Pilates, and I'm pretty sure I did it wrong then. Over the last month, Portia has been systematically and EFFECTIVELY fixing my form and making it so I can isolate and feel exactly what muscles I should be using without clenching my whole body (I'm really good at clenching). This is leading to much better stability and a solid foundation to build on and get back to where I was 20 years ago. I love Contrology Studio and especially Portia (I can tell Bonnie is amazing too from what I hear in the background of my sessions)!
