I really enjoyed the evening Community Class with Samoa. I was informed that the $10 community class was led by new instructors, but even so Samoa was very personable, knowledgeable and professional. The session was very relaxing, which was perfect for an evening session. She came around to make adjustments while poses were held. And during the cool down she offered some essential oils and final adjustments. I was perfectly ready to go to bed afterwards. The space had yoga mats, blocks, straps and blankets. The ambiance was very zen-like and inviting. $10 with no commitment for this evening class is such a good value!

Abhaya is a truly special place. I’ve tried many yoga studios in Brooklyn and there’s a reason this has become my go-to even though there are other studios closer to me. People come from all over the city to take class here, especially with Tara, the owner who teaches several classes throughout the week. She has helped me work through injuries and guided me into poses I never imagined I’d be able to do. The teachers Tara has trained are impressive and Abhaya has some of the best hands-on adjustments I’ve experienced. This is a great studio if you want to develop a more advanced practice, while still being supportive and accessible for any level including beginner-friendly classes. Margarita, who runs the studio, does an incredible job creating a welcoming community. The studio is beautiful and clean and one of my favorite things is being able to watch the seasons change through the huge windows at the front of class. They also offer great deals, sales, and fun challenges throughout the year including an unbeatable intro offer for new students.

Abhaya Yoga is quite the hidden gem, the studio is a peaceful haven in the middle of dumbo. I would highly recommend Nisha’s community restorative yoga class if you’re looking for a uniquely relaxing experience. As someone with a physically stressful job, I’d even prefer it over a massage. Nisha is amazing at creating a restful and safe environment, and her calming presence makes me feel truly held. There are always new restorative poses added to the class which keeps it interesting and engaging. I go out of my way to attend this class because it’s that good, I’ve learned a lot about intentionally relaxing my body and mind. I wish it was offered more often!
