A yoga studio in New York City known for its variety of classes and skilled instructors but with cleanliness issues.
Manhattan, New York
This yoga studio offers an inviting and warm environment for practitioners of all levels. Reviewers appreciate the friendly staff and the quality of instruction provided by experienced teachers, who often demonstrate or offer verbal guidance during sessions. Although the studio is praised for its cleanliness and spacious changing facilities, the class sizes are noted to be quite large, leading to concerns about personal space and hygiene. The heat level in the studio is intense, with classes reaching temperatures up to 105F, which some find invigorating while others may struggle with the conditions. Despite mixed feelings on class density, many attendees express enthusiasm for the workouts and a desire to return, citing the benefits of the hot yoga practice and the encouraging atmosphere created by the instructors.

Not sure what is going on with this location given the great experience I've had at other ID yoga locations. I signed up for a sculpt class through classpass, and 4 hours before the class would begin they emailed all of us to tell us that the class would be flow today instead (different workout). I emailed them back twice and called 5 times within the span of 5 hours - nobody replied and their voice mail inbox wasn't set up. Fortunately i was able to get classpass to handle it so i wouldn't lose any money, but wow, what an egregiously bad instance of customer service. So glad i never ended up giving them any money for their useless bait-and-switch classes!
I've been coming to ID since it was Fierce Grace, and always thoroughly enjoyed the classes. I had an appalling experience at the Fidi location some time ago- replied to one of their surveys detailing my experience, and never heard back from the manager, which was more disheartening. I showed up to a 12pm class at 12:05 and wasn't allowed to enter. I explained that I came all the way from Brooklyn, but was told this is the policy. The young lady at the desk offered to put me in a class at 2pm, and I accepted. Waited around for 2 hours. In the midst of that class, a white woman runs in flustered at least 10-12 minutes into the class. I'm immediately thrown off. I waited until the class was over to see if there was someone else at the front desk. Nope, same girl. I say to her "is the policy only enforced for people who look like me?" And she turned red and started stuttering. It's a shame because I really love the classes, and I'm aware that 1 employee's actions aren't always reflective of the business, but the fact that no one ever got back to me says a lot. Very disappointing for an alleged "inclusive" space. How can we explain a Black woman being denied entry and a White woman being allowed in?
Great yoga classes and a nice clean studio. The teachers explain very well and classes feel like you did a comprehensive work out in an hour. Bonus - there are showers in the changing room so you can shower and change before continuing your day (and I wish there was one more shower stall).
